Uniform Information

Music students – chorus, orchestra and band members are required to wear the appropriate formal concert uniform for the fall, winter, and spring concerts, as well as for other performances throughout the year (including Assessments and the Spring Trip). The formal concert uniform consists of one of the following:
  • Tuxedo – The Boosters will provide a black tuxedo jacket, black pleated tuxedo pants, a black cummerbund and a black bow tie. The student is responsible for purchasing a white, winged-collar tuxedo shirt either from the Boosters ($20) or on their own. The tuxedo shirt becomes the property of the student and can be worn in future years. It is NOT returned with the tuxedo at the end of the school year. The student will also be issued a garment bag for transportation and storage of the uniform. An annual uniform maintenance fee of $40 is required.
  • Dress – The Boosters will provide a long, black dress. The student will also be issued a garment bag for transportation and storage of the uniform. An annual uniform maintenance fee of $40 is required.

PLEASE NOTE:  In order to accommodate families with multiple students in the Music Department, the MAXIMUM maintenance fee per family will not exceed $100 (excluding Marching Band uniform fees).

Formal Concert Uniform Care Instructions

  1. Please TRY ON the assigned uniform and make adjustments IMMEDIATELY. It is the student’s responsibility to have dresses and tuxedo pants hemmed to the appropriate length. Your local dry cleaner may provide this service for a nominal fee. Please DO NOT CUT THE FABRIC or use adhesives, glue, “stitch witchery” or machine stitching.
  2. TUXEDOS- The Boosters will have the tuxedo jackets and pants cleaned at the end of the school year. If you need to clean it during the year, please note that the JACKETS are DRY CLEAN ONLY and that while some PANTS are washable, others are dry clean only. READ AND FOLLOW THE CARE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE LABEL. Ties and cummerbunds should NOT be washed. Please do not tie the ties and cummerbunds; USE THE BUCKLES!  Safety pins may be used if needed. Please WEAR a plain white t-shirt under your tuxedo shirt. Follow the care instructions on the tuxedo shirt and wash it after each use.
  3. DRESSES – The Boosters will have the dresses cleaned at the end of the school year. When you wash the dress during the year, please WASH BY HAND or machine wash on the DELICATE CYCLE in COLD water and lay the dress FLAT to dry.
  4. Wear black dress shoes (and black socks, if applicable) NO SNEAKERS (not even black ones)!
  5. PLEASE BE CAREFUL with your uniform, you are responsible for the replacement of any damaged or misplaced item.
